Discipline and date of your BA or BS degree: BS in Molecular and Cell Biology, University of Connecticut, May 2022
What influenced your decision to pursue a Master of Public Health at UConn?: Through my medical education, I’ve learned so much about how to provide optimal care for patients upon presentation to the clinic or the hospital, but I’ve also learned that there are innumerable upstream factors that play significant roles in patient outcomes, factors that can’t be addressed with medications or surgery. I am pursuing an MPH in order to develop the skillset and knowledge needed to make positive health-related change on a large scale, and hopefully apply these capabilities to better my community and the state of Connecticut.
Background: I grew up in Madison, CT and attended the University of Connecticut for my undergraduate studies, where I initially fostered my interests in not only medicine and the biological sciences, but also epidemiology and social determinants of health. My overwhelmingly positive experience there led me to continue my educational career as a husky and pursue an MD at UConn School of Medicine.
Life Outside Work and School: I’m an avid movie watcher, I love playing board and card games with friends, and I try to stay active by playing basketball and volleyball. I’m also in an a cappella group made up of UConn Health students called Do No Harmony!
Your immediate (next 1-5 years) career goals: To match into a residency program, hopefully in the field of radiology!
