Discipline and date of your BA or BS degree: Nursing, 2009
What influenced your decision to pursue a Master of Public Health at UConn?: Working as a public health nurse, I see the value of a comprehensive public health education and the MPH distinction.
Background: I have had various roles in hospital-based nursing in medical, infectious disease, and respiratory units. I have also worked in community-based care management to help those with Medicaid and severe comorbid medical/psychiatric conditions best manage their health. I now work as a public health nurse with very broad responsibilities including disease surveillance, outbreak mitigation, tuberculosis management, health promotion, overdose prevention, emergency prep, and more.
Life Outside Work and School: I live locally and value spending time with my little family, taking care of my garden, and reading a good book.
Your immediate (next 1-5 years) career goals: I plan to continue my role in public health nursing with valuable new programs to help my city.
Anything Else: I earned my Certification in Infection Control and am a self-described super nerd when it comes to infectious disease.
