Discipline and date of your BA or BS degree: BA in Psychology, May 2020
What influenced your decision to pursue a Master of Public Health at UConn?: I would like to advance my career in healthcare and I already work at UConn Health. I also considered a degree in social work, but with my particular temperament and skill set, I believe I would be able to have an impact more satisfying and tangible to me with a degree in public health rather than as a social worker.
Background: Psychology undergrad, graduated May 2020. Worked in group homes, doctor’s offices, and hospitals since graduating in different capacities. Patient care and administrative primarily.
Life Outside Work and School: I go to the gym three times a week, enjoy hanging out with my friends and significant other, and my hobby is primarily video games with some leisure reading on the side.
Your immediate (next 1-5 years) career goals: I would like to continue working for UConn Health and hopefully get my degree in public health and advance within the organization of UConn Health or work for the department of public health.
Anything Else: I’m hoping to learn how to apply public health to our ever growing technologically advancing society and find out ways to best fit into this dynamic framework. AI is a growing a concern and I would like to find out how it applies to the future of public health and apply it in a way that preserves human dignity.
