Discipline and date of your BA or BS degree: BA of English, 2026
What influenced your decision to pursue a Master of Public Health at UConn?: I liked the structure of the program and heard great things from attending students.
Background: I completed my bachelors degree in English with a minor in Public Health. Within these disciplines I combined my love for reading and writing with the communication and strong interpersonal skills needed in the public health field. My bartending job at the Cross Sound Ferries has also shaped my passion for working in the public health field because it helps connect me to people of various backgrounds and fields of expertise, often relating to health.
Life Outside Work and School: Outside of work and school, I am a devoted sister, daughter, and friend. I love playing tennis, pickleball, and volleyball. I also love to be outside whether it is biking, hiking, or going on long walks. When I am not doing those things, I am reading books on greek mythology, though they tend to be feminist retellings of popular myths.
Your immediate (next 1-5 years) career goals: I would like to graduate with my MPH degree in May of 2028. During those years I would like to get a job or paid internship in epidemiology or public policy to build my resume and get experience. After graduation, I’d like to work at the state or federal level for 2-3 years to gain experience and get a feel for what it is like. From there, I will decide if I will continue to work at that level or possibly go for a PhD.
