Discipline and date of your BA or BS degree: BS Health: Science, Society, and Policy (May 2020) BA Biology (May 2020)
What influenced your decision to pursue a Master of Public Health at UConn?: As a medical student, I’ve learned there just isn’t always enough time in a clinic visit to fully understand a patient’s particular circumstances and then offer personalized health recommendations. Public health can cover more ground; it offers a chance to level the playing field before patients even step into the clinic. I am eager to pursue an MPH to broaden my perspective and to best serve my patients as I continue working to become a physician.
Background: I grew up just outside of New Haven, CT and completed my undergraduate degree at Brandeis University with a double major in Health Science and Biology and a minor in Hispanic Studies. I worked for two years as a medical scribe in Waterbury, CT and as a COVID-19 contact tracer for the Milford Health Department. In 2022, I started medical school at UConn, and I have plans to go into Family Medicine or Pediatrics.
Life Outside Work and School: Outside of work/school, I love spending time outdoors, running, hiking (bonus points if I have canine company), or playing soccer. My favorite food is chocolate. I enjoy traveling and exploring new places. In any downtime, my favorite thing to do is read.
Your immediate (next 1-5 years) career goals: I plan to graduate from UConn School of Medicine in 2027 and pursue a residency in either Family Medicine or Pediatrics with a focus in primary care.
