Frequently Asked Questions – FAQs

Thinking about applying to the UConn Master of Public Health (MPH) program? Below are answers to some of the most common questions we receive from prospective students.

Is the GRE required?

No. The GRE is not required to apply to the MPH program. If you choose to submit GRE scores, they may be reviewed but are not used to award scholarships.

Can I get an application fee waiver?

Only the UConn Graduate School can approve application fee waivers.
You can check eligibility and apply here:
https://grad.uconn.edu/admissions/application-fee-waivers/

Please note that our department is not able to cover application fees.

What are the application deadlines?

  • International applicants: February 1

  • U.S. citizens and permanent residents (preferred consideration): April 1

  • Applications received after the second week of July are not considered for fall admission

Please note that we do not have rolling admissions.

Do I need to submit official transcripts?

No. Unofficial transcripts are sufficient for the application process.
Official transcripts are required only after admission to officially enroll.

What should international applicants know?

International applicants may be required to submit English proficiency test scores depending on their academic background. Some applicants may qualify for a waiver based on prior education or language of instruction.

We strongly recommend international applicants apply by February 1 to allow sufficient time for visa processing.

Are courses in person or online?

The majority of MPH courses are offered in person on the Farmington campus. Some courses may be available in online or hybrid formats.

Are there funding or graduate assistantship opportunities?

We regularly email students about funding opportunities as they become available. Graduate assistantships are not guaranteed and depend on availability each academic year.

What is the MPH Fast-Track program?

The MPH Fast-Track program allows eligible UConn undergraduates to begin MPH coursework early.
