Discipline and date of your BA or BS degree: BS in Allied Health Sciences, May 2025
What influenced your decision to pursue a Master of Public Health at UConn?: I was a 3+1 FastTrack student in my time at UConn! I really enjoyed my undergraduate-level public health classes and decided I wanted to pursue a higher level of education in this discipline. I would like to work clinically in women’s health in the future and I feel like having a public health background can help with creating better outcomes for patients.
Background: I was a pre-PA student during my undergraduate career and have worked as a medical assistant for the past two years, starting at UConn Student Health and Wellness in Storrs and now with a dermatology practice closer to home! With SHaW, I participated in many public health initiatives, such as the Sexual Health and Wellness Fair, Fresh Check Day, flu clinics, and free STI testing. I was also involved with Greek life and cultural organizations in my time as an undergraduate student.
Life Outside Work and School: I enjoy going to the gym and spending time with my friends and family when I’m not working or at school. I also like to travel! I visited Aruba this summer and went to Portugal, where my family is from, for the fifth time last summer.
Your immediate (next 1-5 years) career goals: I am hoping to complete my MPH and attend PA school! I would like to work within the scope of obstetrics and gynecology clinically and work in health education concerning sexual and reproductive health, especially in public school health curriculum.
