Discipline and date of your BA or BS degree: BA in Anthropology, May 2024
What influenced your decision to pursue a Master of Public Health at UConn?: As an undergraduate student, I quickly became fascinated with the intersection between health and society. I was drawn to the connections between sociocultural practices and beliefs and their effects on community health and wellbeing. Through pursuing a Master of Public Health at UConn, I can continue to explore these connections while forging meaningful relationships with peers and faculty alike, allowing me to be the best public health professional I can be.
Background: While I was born and raised in Colchester, CT, I decided to pursue my undergraduate degree at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, studying microbiology for two years before transitioning into anthropology with a concentration in medical anthropology and global health. After obtaining my Bachelor of the Arts in Anthropology, I took a gap year to explore potential career options and find the roots of my interests, which ultimately landed me here at UConn!
Life Outside Work and School: I love to participate in the arts in any way I can! Currently, I am teaching myself how to play the banjo and the guitar. I also am a big movie-watcher and my pride and joy is my Blu-ray collection. Aside from this, I enjoy being outside with friends. Whether it be a hike through the woods or a picnic in the park, I am there!
Your immediate (next 1-5 years) career goals: Within the next 5 years, I hope to successfully complete my MPH and use the skills I learned to serve the global community. I wish to work with underrepresented communities, identifying barriers to healthcare and contributing toward efforts to remove them.
